I
apologize for the break in communication, due mostly to a very hectic
academic and research schedule. Inspite of that, we have made good
progress in our study on the anti cancer activity of one of your
compounds you kindly supplied us through my research assistant Mr.
Mohamed Ali. I have been trying to contact you for the last few
days, but unfortunately had no success. In any case, I am sending
over an update on our progress with one of your herbal extracts.
Our preliminary studies have been directed at investigating the
potential anti-cancer activity, if any, of this herbal mixture.
Initial results on established tumor cell lines indicated that the
mixture had some biological activity. These studies prompted us
to characterize the active ingredient, and after many cycles of
extractions and purifications we have selected one particular compound
from the herbal mixture for further studies. If we are lucky this
compound may turn out to be a novel agent which could be mutually
beneficial for both yourself and my laboratory. However, before
we embark upon our next set of investigations, I would need some
more information with respect to the nature and source of the herbal
mixture we are working with.
My laboratory is currently working on a number of such novel compounds
and I have requested the Bioscience Center at the University to
help us out with this project, therefore, your prompt response would
be highly appreciated. I am looking forward to hearing from you
