Saccharin is an artificial sweetener. It is 500 times: sweeter
than sugar and contains no carbohydrate at all. Diabetics should
not use sugar. But if they want their tea or coffe sweetened it
is better they take the drink with saccharin or other sweetener.
During the 1960's cyclamates were used as artificial sweetener
but were found to cause in laboratory animals when given in large
doses. So, they were looked at with suspicion.
Diabetics should limits the use of artificial sweeteners. It is
better for them to avoid any type of sweetener, natural or artificial.
